new application up on screen at Tosci's
so a new app is running on the screen at Toscanini's in Central Square. The app is a Word game that one plays by texting to it [the name of this app is Wubbli]. If you happen to be in that area, give it a whirl while you eat some ice cream..:> (this is a beta run to see what people think about it and such)

Seems to be broken
I tried it last night, but it never responded to any of my "T2" messages (although I got assigned a name perfectly fine). =(

Broken still... :(
I tried Wubbli last night and I also received a username fine, but no reponses to the system when I sent my answers, and the screen didn't update with any users.

Re: Broken still... :(
thanx. am looking into it. truth is we (Locamoda) needs a better monitoring system so we know if there is a communication drop between the screen and our system for that screen (the Wubbli at Tosci's is a trial run). the nice thing is that from our logs people are playing the game (we get quite a bit of traffic).

I love the game... am totally addicted to it (to the point where my SO gets annoyed at me). A few UI / programming notes / questions:

a) Having the letters that fade out due to being used in a word (as opposed to those that time out) do so in a somewhat more obvious fashion would be nice.

b) Having a Q around without a U is pretty annoying / useless. A friend of mine suggested that QU be a 'letter' instead of Q.

c) Having all consonants up on the screen is also annoying. Maybe an enforced minimum of one or two vowels?

d) I'm assuming that a word with an x and a score means the word's in Wubbli's dictionary but the correct letters weren't on screen. An x and no score means the word's not in Wubbli's dictionary. For words in the dictionary, highlighting the letters that weren't available to make the word would be nice. Mind you, I run across this problem because of (a).

e) I'm assuming that when there are multiple letters, the lowest scoring one is used preferentially.

thanx! some of these are already on the roadmap for the next version (coming very soon) and the ones that were not are going to be.:>

just some replies

a) good idea. we are already thinking up a few ways..(^_^)

b) yeah, this one we know (we play this in office alot). the newer version already has this one

c) same thing as b.

d) great idea. we will put this in

e) actually its the highest one to maximize the score. if it isnt let me know but from our testing it should be the highest one.

OK... got your message while Tosci's was on the path to my place, so, in the name of testing, I *had* to play it some more.

a) Also, having the new letters that appear be somewhat more obvious would be nice. OTOH, maybe I'm making this too easy.

Also, thank you for having "quodlibet" in the dictionary. Impressed my friend with that one.
