tokyo .. some points
* Starbucks in Tokyo now has the chai lattes (and u can get soy milk)!!! yay! couple years back when i checked they had plenty of coffee but no teas.... the world is once again in balance *grins*

* Sony's new Rolly (japanese site (official site), english site (unofficial site)) is uber cute. love the fact that it handles multiple touch and movement controls (accelerometer included).

* Love the fact that i can find clothing in my size! i ought to do a run to tokyo every so often for clothing

* not a lot has changed here since i was last here. which is awesome! one change that sucks is the fact that it is impossible to find public trashcans. guess too many bombs were tossed into public trash cans that it was decided to pull most of them. granted there are still plenty of 'can/bottle' trash cans and even recycle bins but if you have a wad of gum in your mouth expect to wander around for a bit before u can toss the gum

* apparently my actual cell phone works in japan (its 3G). it links to the Vodaphone JP network. however since im unsure as to the actual cost and the whole foreign phone number thing is whack so i have turned it off. i am using a temp cell phone (rented) and im loving it. all i can say is this : WAKE UP you MOFO US carriers!!!! the future is already here....

"one change that sucks is the fact that it is impossible to find public trashcans."

I just said that to my coworker tonight! As I left 7-11, finishing up a cigarette and a bottle of water as we walked.. I held onto everything in hopes of not litering the very clean streets. I must say I'm shocked it's so clear.. cuz.. I can't find a place to put MY trash to save my life!

whats interesting is that the streets are still very clean.... and people are far more recycling conscious... apparently they are starting to bring back public trash cans, but it could take awhile...

Loves & misses you. But glad to hear about your adventures!

I loved Japan!
I guess smaller towns don't have the same problems with trash cans, as I saw plenty.
But, I didn't see any Starbucks either, which kind of made me happy. I hate seeing American chain stores in other countries. I just remember a time when you didn't really see that and every country had different stores and there was more variety to different destinations.

Funny coincidence.. my friend Nobuko also just flew home to Tokyo on Sat the 12th (isn't that even the same day you flew?), early in the morning.
She sounds very much like you when she talks about things.. especially the cell phone thing. She rents one to :)

enjoy the time off and have fun! meep.

Japan's carriers have been way ahead of US carriers for a long time, not like everyone else wasn't... they were. The US was cell-phone backwater in 1996 when I started in the business and still was in 2002 when I left it. I doubt anything has changed.
