John Redler
John M Redler was one of my best friends back in college. Just last week he passed away suddenly. I still havent fully processed all of this. This last monday his memorial service was held. It was a nice service, full of memories and sad reunions.

For now while I process all this (and intend to post a bit on all this once i do so), I post something another college friend of mine, Aaron J, posted in regards to John.....

In Memoriam: John Redler

John was my friend.

John was "that guy" in college. The one, as another friend noted, who was the (unnamed) "buddy I had in college" when you tell just-barely-believable stories about your yesteryears. John was the eye of the hurricane. Stay close and watch out for the flying cows.

John was the life of the party, and if there wasn't a party he brought one. In fact, he was the one who hosted the unplanned after-after-party at my wedding, the one that still gets talked about more than the official party and semi-official after party that the bride and I attended. Yup, it's the after-after-party that he threw in his suite starting at midnight that people remember. (Ok, most people remember. John's memory kind of got fuzzy after a few hours, but that can be forgiven.)

If you ever told John "I need to go charge the Gates of Hell," his response would've been "Great, I'll go get my axe." He wouldn't bother to ask "why?" He would just assume that you had a good reason and that you needed help. "Plus," he would think, "how often do you get to charge the Gates of Hell with an axe?"

John was a legend; in fact, he was "The Legend." John was several shades of crazy. John was a wonderfully flawed human being who lived his life to its fullest, and wanted to make sure that those around him had the chance to do the same.

John was a good friend and a better person. The world is a poorer, grayer place without him. He will be dearly missed.

:( I'm so sorry.

I haven't spoken to her since graduation but his wife went to business school with me. What a shocking and horrible tragedy. :(

Let me know if you need to talk/company/whatever.
